My name is Daksha Mistry, I am a wife a working mum and more recently a new grandmother who is absolutely passionate about cooking with spices in the traditional Indian Gujarati way.  I love to fuse my culinary skills with other cultural cuisines and create new flavours.

 

My bond with Indian spices started in my childhood days when mum and I cooked daily meals to feed my four brothers and dad all with very healthy appetites. I loved playing with different flavours which took away some of the tradition but the thrill and excitement of seeing my family enjoy my creations inspired me to learn and get even more creative.

​ 

The passion followed me into married life and when my children left for university, they were able to enjoy the flavours of home cooking as I armed with a concoction of my blend of spices which they could adapt and use for quick meals.  It kept them away from the chippy queues!!

 

 With My Masala Guru paste you will be able to create a fusion of flavours that can be paired with almost any main ingredient both vegetarian or non-vegetarian enabling a creation of your own.  Meals can be quick and simple and whether you’re a seasoned foodie or a young professional just in the mood for some effortless cooking, I hope that My Masala Guru will reach your culinary goals.

Finally, it’s important for me to share with you that through My Masala Guru, my goal has always been to support a fundraising campaign for three important charities close to my heart, these being Meningitis Now, Dementia UK and Dr Kershaw's Hospice, Oldham. We brought our charity campaign to a close on 2nd December 2023 raising a staggering £15,450!

I'm also pleased to share that with your nominations, My Masala Guru were shortlisted in three categories for the Tameside Business Awards in 2023, winning two awards for Food and Drink Retailer of the Year and Business to Consumer Business Person of the Year! In 2024, we were also nominated as a finalist for Small Business of the Year and it was an honour to listed with the best in our region!
